New Year's Resolutions

Happy New Year!

What are your resolutions for 2012?

1. Build more confidence at work. 2. Buy a really nice trench coat 3. Plan more mini vacations while I still live in Europe 4. Gchat with my Mom EVERYDAY 5. Stop bitting my nails. 6. Continue building a fantastic wardrobe and invest in timeless pieces rather then seasonal crap. 7. Train my butt off for the Paris Marathon 2012. 8. Manage to fit into my Manoush dress before my birthday on February 11th without splitting the zipper. 9. Hit the slopes more often. 10. Love myself, for real.

Being back in Paris is tougher then I imagined this year. After a refreshing vacation in Toronto and California, I have no choice but to keep these resolutions in mind so I can hold it together in this stuffy country.

Have a nice evening. Blah.

Surrounded by Men. Yay or Nay?

Have you ever felt anxious in your work environment? I use to hate that word, ‘anxiety’. It’s ugly and nothing good comes from using it. Today I’m going to rant about the pros and cons from working solely around men.

Being an engineer comes with a lot of positives. However, it also has an overwhelming amount of negatives at the beginning of your career.

Positive: I get paid well. Yay, new shoes.

Negative: I never get to talk about my shoes. All of my colleagues are men. Men like beer.

Positive: I get all the help I need when I ask nicely.

Negative: I may seem ‘helpless’ at times because I am female and we always need ‘help’

Positive: People listen when I speak during a meeting.

Negative: I might not always be heard. Men tend to have larger heads in France. Just kidding. I love you guys.

Positive: I get to solve problems everyday and it feels pretty damn good when I get the answer.

Negative: My nails are a mess when I can’t solve the problem and hurt the next day.

Positive: Marathon trainning is a blast with a ton of boys!

Negative: Sometimes they run too fast and leave me behind. Jerks.

Positive: I don’t have to wear suits to work.

Negative: Men at work don’t make comments on my brand outfit. Common. Throw me a compliment once in a while! Uhh, where the ladies at?!

If you are a female out there working in a male dominated field. Don't be afraid to strut your new shoes around the office and show those men what you are capable of!

I need a hug.

Goodmorning lovelies! As you might already know, I am Canadian. (Click Here for the Molson Canadian Lyrics: I am Canadian Rant). Living in France has been a struggle from Day 1. Especially because of the lack of Hugs. I mean it's great that the French greet each other with a 'bisous'. BUT, I can use a friendly bear hug once in a while. Especially since it has been raining nonstop over here!

P.S., if you are also here in Paris and looking for that hug, it is more openly accepted in the South of France. I've tested this theory before. Oh and avoid trying to give your favorite colleagues a hug. Your good intentions turn into a plain awkward situation.
Have a beautiful day and hug the one you love for goodness sake!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I wish you all a warm, toasty, full-of-love-and-laughter Thanksgiving.

This year, my boyfriend and I will be preparing a feast for our 8 closest
friends in Paris. I am thankful for:

(1) the unconditional love from my family in Canada
(2) My beautiful friends from each corner of the world
(3) my boyfriend (for the better person he has helped me become)
(4) Feta Cheese
(5) New Hermes Booties coming in the mail anytime soon.
(6) My super cool sister that is mostly too busy to call me.
She still is my no. 1 person in the world.
(7) The internet
(8) Living in Paris
(9) My job in the Oil and Gas industry.
(10) Being able to come home to the Coolest place in the World.

A little inspiration.

Goodmorning Paris, Canada, or whoever is nice enough to take the time out of their busy day to check up on my blog (it's brand new and probably the coolest blog you will ever see)!

Do you ever have one of those days, where you are riding the bus/driving/walking around and criticizing everything you pass by. Whether it's the woman who forgot to brush her hair this morning, the guy (most likely french) that never wears deodorant at work, or the cashier with the over-the-top makeup and blonde/pink washed out hair (what is she trying to hide anyway?) I know, I know, the last thing you want to hear is: improve yourself before criticizing others. Well I want to take a different approach...Anytime you start criticizing someone else, take a quick minute and think about how you are feeling. This morning, I did just that. And I came up with: really low-confidence and just plain icky. So, today I thought I would write about how to improve your daily confidence and over all well-being. I have my boyfriend, parents and partially Pinterest to thank for this one. Here we go.

(1) APOLOGIZING ( I know you just started to sing 'apologize' by One Republic ) Apologizing doesn't mean that you are wrong and the other person is right. It just means that you value your relationship more than your ego.

(2) LOOK like a girl. ACT like a lady. THINK like a man. WORK like a boss.

(3) When you are having a bad day. Say to yourself: It might be a shitty day. Not a shitty life.

(4) Don't think too much. You will create a problem that wasn't even there in the first place.

(5) DECIDE to start living the life that you imagined. See what happens.

(6) LAUGH.
(7) CRY. Everyone needs a good cry now and then.
(8) Let's create some endorphins eh (for my favorite Canadians)! Wake up a little earlier today or at least don't fall back asleep. Splash that gorgeous face of yours. Put on your favorite ratty t-shirt and your most comfortable bottoms. BREATH, a deep one. EAT some cornflakes (or your fav cereal). DRINK a glass of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon. WASH your face with your favorite fash wash. RUN for 15 minutes. STRETCH out those legs in comprising positions (outdoors so everyone can see, thats it!). WALK back home. LIE on your carpet. BREATH. 50 times 4 of your fav crunches. SHOWER with a lemon scented body wash, and your best smelling shampoo. AIR dry your hair. EXFOLIATE. HYDRATE your body. Put vaseline around your eyes. BREATH. FEEL great. KISS the one you love or wrap yourself in your blanket (whatever floats your boat). And VOILA. Instant gratification.

           (9) Inspire to wear THIS and feel great.

      Which one would you
                choose?

(10) Most importantly, for all you ladies out there. The most important lesson of all. This is big. HUGE. It will change your life forever. I mean it.

I swear...

Are you sure you're ready?

Here we go.

Maybe you aren't ready...

I understand. It's really bigger then LIFE.
OK fine.

Here it is.

Oh and let's throw this one in the mix as well.

Have an amazing day you beautiful love bugs. Overcast in Paris today. Who cares...I AM AWESOME TODAY.
